Petition
To: Ann Arbor City Council
Skateboarding is a healthy, non-competitive sport that thrives in Ann Arbor, even with city and campus anti-skateboarding bylaws in effect and no permanent facility provided by the schools, city, or any private organization.
We recognize the need for and benefits of a free public skatepark and believe the city should at the very least provide land and maintenance, and at most, fund, build, and maintain a skatepark just as it would a basketball court, swimming pool, baseball diamond, tennis court or other general-use public facility.
It is time for Ann Arbor to join Lansing, Bay City, Mason, Charlotte, Jackson, Belleville, Howell, Huntington Woods, Niles, Midland, Traverse City, Westland, Portage, Grand Haven, and the other cities and small towns in Michigan that have been able to support permanent, public skateparks for their communities.
We, the undersigned, support the development of a free, public, concrete skatepark in Ann Arbor.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
