Second Annual Ann Arbor Skatepark Benefit Art Show
The Second Annual Ann Arbor Skatepark Benefit Art Show kicks off at 6 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. on May 15.
Vault of Midnight, in conjunction with the Ann Arbor Skatepark Steering Committee, is proud to host The Second Annual Ann Arbor Skatepark Benefit Art Show. Artists of local and international renown are contributing original artwork using skate board decks as both inspiration and canvas. The decks will be appraised by our prestigious panel of judges (including the likes of Phoebe Gloeckner, Davy Rothbart) who will select their favorites as winners from the entries. All of the contributed decks will then be put up for a live auction hosted by Malcolm Tulip and, most importantly, 100% of the proceeds will benefit Ann Arbor’s very own skatepark.
“A modern, forward-thinking city like Ann Arbor needs a skatepark,” said Curtis Sullivan, owner and operator of Vault of Midnight. “and it’ll increase Ann Arbor’s reputation as a destination spot in Michigan.”
Last year’s art show was a smashing success, bringing in nearly $10,000 and providing a new level of public awareness for the skatepark project; over 400 attended the 2009 benefit.
"This year’s show is going to be even bigger," Mr. Sullivan continued. "building on last year’s momentum with more decks, new artists, great food and music. You won’t want to miss it!”
Contributing artists include Guy Davis, Becky Cloonan, Rob Sato and Anders Nilsen. Music will be provided by DJ Dick Jones. Food and refreshments will be provided courtesy of Trader Joes.
The Second Annual Ann Arbor Skatepark Benefit Art Show kicks off at 6 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. on May 15.
