Help us win $250,000!
The Friends of the Ann Arbor Skatepark are applying for a Pepsi Refresh grant (http://www.refresheverything.com/ )! This is one of those dealies where we’re up on their site for a month, and if we get the most votes we get the moolah!
We’re going for the $250,000 grant and we need YOUR help!
Part of the grant process involves making a 3-minute video. The videos are an important part of getting votes. The cooler/funnier the video, the better chance we have at getting the most votes. We hope to showcase as many young people as possible (we know, “young” is a relative term. Take it however you want!).
The theme of our video is built around the fact that skateboarding is illegal in downtown Ann Arbor, and there’s no skatepark. Since you can’t use a skateboard for skateboarding in Ann Arbor, we want to see what you CAN use a skateboard for. We’re looking for clips of people using a skateboard as a baseball bat, a golf club, a Playstation controller, a pillow, whatever. We’ll pick the best entries and put them in a video that will be put in on the Pepsi Refresh website for the world to see and vote on.
Here’s what you need to do:
1. Make a 10 second video of you and/or your friends using a skateboard for something other than skateboarding. Don’t have a $10,000 video cam? That’s cool. Use your phone, your Flipcam, or your grandma’s 1980 RCA VHS video recorder. The quality of the camera isn’t as important as your idea.
2. Upload the video to Trevor’s mobileme space. Here’s the address: http://gallery.me.com/trevorstaples#100198 Just click the “upload” button in the middle of the page. BE SURE TO GIVE YOUR VIDEO FILE A UNIQUE NAME. Bubbas_badass_sk8vid.mov = Good. VID_003.mov = bad!
3. Send Trevor an email at trevor@a2skatepark.org and let him know that you’ve uploaded the vid. List the names of the people in the video.
4. Sit back and relax until September. That’s when voting will start!
Again, not all of the videos will be used. However, some time in September, we’ll string ALL entries together so everyone can view them.
Ok, that’s it. Get out there and do some filming! We’ve got $250,000 to win and a skatepark to build! Oh and SPREAD THE WORD!
