ART FAIR 2010!

Ok, so we in Ann Arbor have a love/hate relationship with Art Fair, not unlike football Saturdays. However, we here at the Skatepark LOVE the Art Fair! This is one of our most fun opportunities to get out and talk to the community about the project, and raise a significant amount of money.

As you probably know, we have nearly everything in place to start construction of the midwest's (quite possibly the USA's) best skatepark. We have conceptual drawings for the skatepark, City Council approval for the location, widespread community support, and $400,000 in matching funds from the Washtenaw County Parks Commission. What we need is to finish our fundraising to make this thing happen. You can help!

We'll be at the Art Fair in the Washtenaw Nonprofits section, booth #70 (across the street from Seva and to the east a bit). We're going to be offering up shirts, stickers, keychains and other swag for a small donation to the project. We'll also have AAACF envelopes, if folks would like to give significantly larger gifts.

A really exciting piece this year is that we'll be raffling off an autographed Cheech and Chong skate deck. What?! Yep, it's cool, and only available to folks who stop by our Art Fair Booth. HUGE thanks to Todd Harder down at RedPaint Printing for donating this awesome deck. Tickets for the raffle are only $1!

So, come down to our booth, say hi, and help make the skatepark a reality in Ann Arbor. So many other communities have seen the value and community success that comes with offering this form of recreation. It makes sense for Ann Arbor. Don't forget that because of the matching grant from the Washtenaw County Parks Commission, EVERY DONATION WE RECEIVE, UP TO $400,000 WILL BE MATCHED! This is major. Make it happen!
